Unlock creativity and ignite a passion for performance with The Young Company’s exciting fall theatre classes! Designed for students in grades 1-12, our classes offer something for every aspiring actor, from playful exploration to advanced scene work. Led by experienced instructors, each course focuses on building essential acting skills, fostering collaboration, and encouraging personal growth in a fun, supportive environment. All classes are offered in-person at Greater Boston Stage Company.
For younger students, Imagination Foundations introduces grades 1-6 to the magic of storytelling and character creation through imaginative play and movement. Grades 4-6 will dive deeper in Storytelling 101, discovering the power of their voices and bodies to bring characters to life.
Older students can hone their craft in Acting Essentials, a series of progressive classes that explore scene work, character development, and physicality. Whether mastering monologues or refining character movement, students in grades 7-12 will gain invaluable experience through personalized feedback and hands-on learning.
This fall, we are offering a series of 6-week classes starting the week of October 7th and a 3-week Monologue Intensive starting October 29th. Cost of registration is $245.
No matter the level of experience, these six-week classes provide the perfect opportunity to grow as performers, build confidence, and create lasting connections with fellow actors. Join us this fall for an unforgettable journey into the world of theatre!

IMAGINATION FOUNDATIONS: Play, Pretend, Perform!
Tuesdays, 4:00p-5:15p OR Wednesdays, 4:00p-5:15p
Overture: Grades 1-4

In this exciting and playful class, students will dive into imaginative play and movement to explore the world of acting. Through engaging activities, we will discover how to transform into different characters and create exciting stories while building confidence, and working together.
Perfect for grades 1-4, this class welcomes all experience levels and encourages students to express their creativity and have fun on stage and in rehearsal!
This class meets once a week for 6 weeks: the week of October 7th – the week of November 11th.

IMAGINATION FOUNDATIONS: Storytelling 101

Act 1: Grades 4-6

In this dynamic class, students will dive into a series of creative workshop-style lessons that explore the power of voices, bodies, and imaginations. Together, we’ll craft vibrant characters and bring thrilling stories to life!
Designed for students in grades 4-6 of all acting levels, this class offers personalized learning goals to help every student shine as a confident performer and enthusiastic collaborator. Get ready for a fun, imaginative journey on stage!
ACTING ESSENTIALS: Working the Scene
Thursdays, 5:45p-7:15p
Act 2: Grades 7-9

Get ready for an exciting deep dive into scene work! Over six weeks, students will tackle scenes from plays while building their acting toolkit. They’ll develop skills in text analysis, movement, voice, character-building, and other fundamentals. Actors will have the chance to share their works-in-progress with each other and engage in supportive, generous feedback.
Designed for students in grades 7-9, this class offers personalized learning goals through scene selection and individual feedback. It’s perfect for all experience levels, providing a fantastic opportunity to grow as both performers and collaborators.
ACTING ESSENTIALS: Characterizing Movement
Wednesdays, 6:00p-7:30p
Act 3: Grades 10-12

In this dynamic class, actors in grades 10-12 will delve into expanding their physical capabilities and enhancing their understanding of movement in relation to character and the text of a play. We will explore a wide range of movement styles, from bold, exaggerated gestures to subtle, everyday motions. Through various exercises and workshops, actors will learn how to use their bodies to express different characters and emotions.
By the end of the sessions, students will have a deeper awareness of how their physicality influences storytelling and will be equipped with new techniques to enrich their performances.
This class meets once a week for 6 weeks: Wednesday, October 9th – Wednesday, November 13th.

ACTING ESSENTIALS: Mastering Monologues
Tuesdays and Fridays 6:30p-8:00p
Grades 9-12
Taught by Stephen Zubricki IV
Join us for an intensive three-week monologue workshop designed to refine the acting skills of students in grades 9-12. Each week, students will engage in insightful discussions with peers to deepen their understanding of acting concepts, analyze scripts and characters, and address common acting habits. Through targeted coaching, interactive exercises, and personalized feedback, actors will develop dynamic and convincing performances.
Open to both beginner and experienced actors, this workshop offers a supportive environment to unlock full acting potential. All monologues will be provided by the instructor.
