Eccentric inventor, Caractacus Potts, sets about restoring an old race car with the help of his children Jeremy and Jemima. They soon discover the car is magic, and has the ability to float and take flight. When the evil Baron Bomburst desires the magic car for himself, the family joins forces with Truly Scrumptious and Grandpa Potts to outwit the dastardly Baron and Baroness and their villainous henchman, the Child Catcher.

Featuring a tuneful high-energy score, plenty of great parts for teens, and a hilarious script, Birdie continues to thrill audiences around the world.
Teenagers, rock & roll and national television – Bye Bye Birdie captures the energy and excitement of the late 1950s with warmth, hilarity and an exuberant score.

The Young Company offers a tiered pricing structure for our Summer Festival program. This model allows families to choose tuition that best fits their family’s current financial circumstances. True Price represents the actual cost of our program while Base Price is made possible by the philanthropic support of our community who selects Donation Price.
We invite you to choose the tier that reflects your current personal financial circumstances. The tier you select will remain confidential and will not impact your student’s experience.
Should none of these tiers fit your current financial circumstance, Financial Aid is available through an easy application process. Please don’t let the ability to pay be a barrier to participation!

In casting, we take several things into account:
At the end of the casting process, we place students in the role that best suits the artistic and educational needs of the production and student. This is clearly communicated with families through a casting form that explores the experience and growth we hope to offer each actor.
Our full philosophy and casting announcement policy is available upon request. All families who register will receive this information.
Our program begins at 8:30am and ends at 2:30pm. To accommodate families’ schedules, students may be dropped off as early as 8:10am and can be picked up no later than 2:45pm.
In rehearsal, actors work with an artistic team that includes a Director, Music Director, Choreographer, and Stage Manager. Students are actively engaged to the fullest, learning material for the shows and important skills useful for both artistic advancement and personal achievement.
In addition to rehearsals, students participate in weekly workshops in various theatre disciplines during each of the first 4 weeks of the program. Workshops are designed to further develop actors’ skills in acting, dancing, and singing – useful not only for their current Summer Festival production, but for future shows as well.
For an additional fee, students in Overture, Act 1, and Act 2 may enroll in our Extended Day program on a weekly basis. Extended day will run July 7 – August 1, Monday to Thursday, for pickup as late as 4:30pm at Greater Boston Stage Company.
More information regarding Extended Day activities will be announced at a later date.
